My father is obese and started suffering from diabetes in his forties. It was initially controlled with oral medications and later switched to insulin injections. Additionally, patients with diabetes are more likely to have hyperlipidemia. So if you can be vegetarian, please try to be vegetarian. There is data showing that a vegetarian diet can reduce the risk of diabetes. Plus thirty minutes of aerobic exercise every day to keep your body healthy. We should not wait until the day when an amputation is needed to adjust our lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Diabetes has a genetic component, but this is a fact we cannot change. My father had diabetes and died of complications from diabetes. Like father, not like son. I choose a healthy vegetarian diet and exercise. Today I am not troubled by this disease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
