Please bring HKID card, Two-way permit or passport (Mainland) for registration, any photocopy is not accepted.
Please arrive 30 minutes before appointment.
If region of interest includes the gallbladder (e.g. Whole Abdomen, Upper Abdomen, Urogram… etc.), fast for 4 hours before examination. Only water is allowed.
For CT coronary angiogram: • Please continue beta-blocker or antihypertensive agents or follow advice of referral doctor; • Atrial fibrillation or irregular heart rate may result in non-diagnostic coronary scan;
If injecting contrast agent is needed for the test: • Older than 65; • Patients with kidney disease or people who have had kidney surgery; Patient creatinine level may need to be tested at the centre the day of the examination.
Please inform doctor of any history of food or drug allergy / adverse reaction to contrast medium or history of asthma. Oral or intravenous steroid premedication may be needed before injection of contrast medium to minimize the allergic reaction.
For diabetic patients on Metformin-containing drugs: If renal function (eGFR) is normal, there is no need to withhold Metformin-containing drugs. If eGFR <30mL/min/1.73m2 or suffering from acute renal failure, metformin-containing drugs should be withheld for 48 hours after IV contrast medium administration. Metformin should only be resumed after reassessment of renal function by blood test. You can seek advice from the referral doctor.
Patients younger than 18 must be accompanied by parent or legal guardian, and consent form should be signed by parent or legal guardian.
All metallic objects (e.g. watches, jewelry, ear rings, hair pins… etc.) should be removed before examination and kept safe by yourself.
Please bring along related films and reports (if any) for comparison.
For female patient, please kindly inform referral doctor and reschedule the examination if pregnancy cannot be excluded. If the menstrual cycle exceeds 28 days, the urinary pregnancy test must be accepted; if the patient is over 55 years old and has been stopped for at least 2 years, the pregnancy test is not required.
